Are all black watches 'fashionable'...what to wear them with? - Page 2

I like the black on black look but wonder how it will wear long-term. When Porsche design first brought these out in the 80"s the edges would show wear after a while. Perhaps the coatings are better, but better enough to last for 10+ years like my SS Rolex Sub?

I was going to comment on how that watch is available from the MoMA store, but I see that's where you got the pic from.

I'm really not a huge fan of the Antea, although I love the Ikarus and the No Logo Flieger. My next watch purchase, however, will be a Seiko Spirit Blue Spark. Its price is not too inhibitory, as the Stowas' are, rather unfortunately. Plus, I like how the hands give it a modern, more casual look, especially in contrast to the more dressy dial, which is great for me as I do not wear a suit everyday and so am in danger of my watch being too dressy for my clothes.

If you're looking for a cheaper watch in this style, the Seiko SNZF21 can be had for about $130~170 on ebay.

I own the Seiko SNZF21 and it is an Japanese automatic, either the 7s26 or 7s36 movement.

I also own the Orient Blue Mako, the Seiko SNZF19 (stainless steel, with black bezel and orange face) and the Seiko Atlas (white face, model number is skz207 or skz209). All can be had for less than $150 with some effort (and the Orient Blue Mako can be had from an AD for $95). All are automatic watches, if you care for that thing, but without handwinding and hacking (although you can simulate hacking by applying back pressure).

I've never really got the point of 4 or 5 figure watches, but I have flirted with purchasing them.

Anyone know where to find the Seiko watch pictured in my quote?

I support blacked-out watches:

Anyways if you want to avoid being "trendy", get rid of your "blingy polished Breitling" and look through the WAYWT thread for a replacement, there are some nice watches in there.

LMAO at watch noob calling Breitling trendy. Maybe the Super Avenger, but calling the brand itself trendy is stupid.

Well Breitling is pretty much synonymous to big watches and since we're on the big watch trend, you can call it trendy. Panerai is also trendy

Big watch isn't a trend. 42mm or so will be here to stay for a longggggg time. There's no way people will go back to calling 36mm normal. It IS a woman's size.

Seems like people have been saying this for 10 years now and they're still going strong.
