Depending on your size, ToJ jackets pop up on B&S every once in a while, think there's a 36 on there now

The APC NS is a popular cut, since it flatters many body types. The APC PS has a lower rise and fits slimmer in the seat and thigh, so it's better for skinnier people. No experience with Nudies.

As for other suggestions: you haven't provided any more info about how you want to dress so I can't suggest anything.

Hey,thanks for your help. I'm of a muscular build, 5.75 feet, 154 pounds. So, I guess APC NS will suit me better than APC PS right?
I intend to dress in a simple, basic, masculine style. Nothing fancy yet.

Sounds like NS would work better.

As for what else you need...how's your shoe game?

i like leather jackets.

Leather jackets are out unless you check Gilt. Penguin makes a Harrington-like jacket that I'm fond of for about $150. You can also check B&S for Baracuta/APC/Fred Perry harringtons.

I need to be pointed in the direction of good quality button down shirts for under $75-100... i got a handful of shades of greige plaid shirts and while i like the pattern/cut, the quality is just a joke. I washed the shirts once carefully and of course they shrank... wore one of the shirts once and one of the seams on the side looks err blown out? And it doesnt even fit tight... its just falling apart already. What the hell.

I want to find better quality button downs that arent super expensive, but i'm not sure what to look for.

I'm a slender guy, and i generally wanna wear them layered over a tshirt, so i want them to fit kind of snug but not super tight, and definitely not overly roomy... blargh

^^I was once like you...a man who said "HEY--I'm not spending more than $100 on a shirt!"

Then I met Epaulet. And I bought their light blue gingham seersucker shirt.

Now I'm a man who says "HEY--I'm not spending more than $100 on a shirt! Well, except if it's Epaulet and I dig the fabric...." Other options: Uniqlo, Gitman on B&S/Supermarket. ToJ is also releasing $90 shirts but I can't comment on quality.

Haha! Ive heard uniqlo over and over but dont you need a proxy seeing as how theyre only in NY and no real online store? I will check out Gitman too... had no idea TOJ was releasing shirts. I dig their jackets but don't own one but have more than seen approval of quality through members on this site. I will try and keep an eye out for that. Sounds like a good option

**But to circle back around, if i am usually an M, slender w a 38 chest what size shirts should i be looking at for Uniqlo? Don't really know anything about the brand..

I like Uniqlos shirts. You have to call them or go in. Store number is online.

H&M's "L.O.G.G." line makes some really great shirts for 29 bucks, but they wrinkle like a ***** when washed. My go-to is jcrew for casual button downs, since $59 gets you a prett kick-ass oxford or print.

You looking for oxford/button down? Dress shirts? Pattern/solid? Flannel/pinpoint/cotton. Helps to be more specific

The other suggestions are really good too. I'm a 38/S 145lbs. and all those I mentioned are slim-fit and good fits for me.

I see a fair amount of Uniqlo shirts on ebay but some say Japan, some say America and i think sizing is different depending on where theyre actually made, right?

Shirts that wrinkle... ahh that bothers me. And i have no access to an iron at the moment haha so the less wrinkle the better :p

I'm more just looking for casual button downs, something i can wear out n about and still get away with at work. Nothing overly dressy though... looking for plaid/flannel/check/etc type shirts.

Where should I look for a slim navy sportcoat.

I'm calling sid mashburn this week to order some chinos, so I will ask them about sportcoats, but I have a feeling they will be too big timer for me.

Sizing is smaller for Japanese Uniqlo. Not sure how small.

If wrinkled shirts bother you look into oxfords. Wash em and hang em and the wrinkles won't be an issue. They're business casual but they're also good to wear out.

Since the subject of chucks keeps popping up... who here has worn both chucks and pf flyer cousy? I've never worn chucks before but i got some pf flyers and man they are uncomfortable... even with insoles they hurt my feet a bit. I know they aren't "broken in" yet n what not, but still... i'm used to wearing regular sneakers with better support. Just wondering if chucks are same/better/worse.

Sizing advice? Red Wing probably 8.5... unsure about the rest. 9.5 for Bean/Tims? Or are Clarks/Cons considered "true to size"?

Brood Star: isn't there a Katahdin thread somewhere in SF? Search for it and ask there, or ask in the "Ask a question" thread.

Chucks are notoriously bad for support. I use black Chucks to weight-lift b/c they provide almost no support (and I don't like foot support when I squat/DL). Purcells are much better in the support department--they actually have an insole, for one thing.

Don't like those Lacoste shoes, what do you like about them?
