Unless it was on gravel, that Z06 driver had to be adjusting his dash vents or something. I love the STi, and I'm pretty partisan (I race cars for Subaru Rally Team USA), but on tarmac, the C6 Z06 is on a completely different level than either an M5 or an STi.

In my experience, the average C6 Z06 owner just babies the thing around the track anyway. Coast through the corners and then drop the hammer on the straights. Shame.

Also, I agree with everything you say in regards to a stock sti. However a 2.5l engine is big for a 4 cyl. and, internals (pistons) can be upgraded to 10.5:1cr and run with E85 octane.
You missed my part just before your earlier bold quote...Its sad when most STI owners have no clue of their cars awesome handling, which is when a better driver even in an LS430 boat can out handle a weaker driver in an STI.
With traction/on tarmac/asphalt the C6 ZO6 is a supercar, but again not if the driver is inexperienced.

I think a C6 ZO6 can still outanything any stock car, its the only affordable supercar IMO. I am partisan to the LS1 series engines and their offsprings, my street legal/street driven 98 Camaro had a Twin Turbo LS1 with few extra mods 1000+Hp is addictive...

Regards.

Yeah, I agree with what you're saying about certain cars having certain abilities because of their drivers. I'm no racer but I used to do autocross in my '05 STi for fun. There were two Z06's there usually. One was about 2 seconds quicker than me on a 60 seconds track and the other was about a second behind me depending on the track layout. They sure sounded good on the straights. Then again I think mine did too with my Borla exhaust. I almost peed myself the first time I heard the new exhaust note. It is for this that I love the Subaru's flat four.

Between Subaru and Mitsubishi, the latter has won a WRC season most recently. Neither manufacturer has been impressive in the last few years, however.

If she was a giant truck I'd consider it. As it is, I've never needed anything larger than a car.
