Is wearing a blazer with jeans still in?

Depends on the blazer. And depends on the jeans. It might be time for the hoodie to go, though.

Is this supposed to be a blazer? Didn't the tag say "dry clean only"? See what happens when the jacket is laundered.

Who cares? Do you look good wearing it? Yes? Then do it. No? Then don't. If you're asking whether or not it's played on a mainstream level: yeah, pretty much. If you're the type who can pull things off, though, this has little bearing.

I agree with the poster above. Is it played out? Probably. But then again, everything is. If you can think of it, it's been done before. If you want to be aggressive, reverse the look. Odd pleated trousers in a heavy plaid fabric with sneakers, a t-shirt and denim jacket.

i've done this, except not with sneakers but real shoes. J lindeberg blue/green plaid wool trousers black band tshirt blue loafers denim jacket as far as blazers with denim...if yer a seriously serious dood to begin with then it can look great because more n likely you'll have the *right* denim and *right* blazer. but most guys look like shlubs with this look, like a close cousin of the striped shirt american jackass look (at least to me). reminds me of a bad photospread from Cargo magazine come to life.

This look is classic. Look at any old pictures of John Cale, Iggy Pop, Johnny Thunders... it's been around for a long time, but just recently (like, two years ago) started to become annoyingly ubiquitous. I don't care anyway, I still wear it when I feel like it.

I was watching Cheers last night, and Ted Danson wore a gray tweed blazer, shirt and tie with jeans to a nice restaurant, and it looked excellent. And this was the 80s.

unfortunately the majority of jean/blazer wearers dont have the ruck n roll suss of those doods but i think this look works best with a short blazer that's cut closer to the waist then a normal jacket. unfortunately the best looking ones i've seen so far are by top dollar labels like Thom Browne ($2200 for his..), Junya Watanabe, Hedi Slimane Dior etc.

What jeans do you think they are? I love that color.

it's from Givenchy's Fall 2005 collection i believe. the drape on those jeans is amazing. it's like they're made out of wool. -Jeff

Blazer with jeans will always be cool. But just like GetSmart said, you need the *right* blazer and jeans, more importantly the blazer. I have a great navy blazer with gold buttons that falls right above my wrists, and has skinny lapels, which looks great with jeans. I usually wear it with a v-neck tee or a henley. BrianSD.... Johnny Thunders ROCKS...

Gotta second Mike C here. Find the right stuff, the stuff that fits you, and I'm not just talking about your measurments. I have a few blazers I wear with jeans, usually with some sort of collared shirt, but not necessarily a "dress" shirt, or a henley or tee, with my engineer boots or with some chelsea boots. Its getting warmer around me, and a hoodie underneath a blazer is just too hot, especially for me, since I sweat something fierce if its a little warm in the club, bar, pool hall, whatever. The key is finding what is you and going with it, making it your own. Then you'll stand out from the mass of other people who don the same look. My apologies for any spelling mistakes here. My weak point usually, plus I've had a few tonight.

I have a black wool blazer from Victor Victoria which is cut shorter than the average blazer and looks great. It's also quite close to the body. luc
