If you want to see some incredible minimalist drumming, and drumming that includes melody, not just beat, check out something like this:



It's starts to get good at about 1:50. That's just one random sample, and IMO, solo is not even its best presentation.

someone argued Thomas Pridgen was one of today's greats...while I agree that he's a good drummer, I have to argue that his "beats" weren't as good for the Volta as Theo's were. I feel sometime he's not grooving with the band quite like he should which to me is a problem.
