Sports Hernia

I tore a muscle in my lower abdomen a few months ago; saw Doctor, diagnosed with "sports hernia." I am getting surgery the 25th of this month.

Has anyone had this surgery before? Its supposed to be minimally invasive, only a 2 inch cut and they go in with a microscope and hem it up with some mesh. I'm just wondering how long it takes to get back into normal life. How long I should wait to work out/have sex, etc.

I had it not too long ago. I guess you opted for the Laproscopic surgery. You might want to do a little research regarding laproscopic vs open surgery for hernias. I have had two during my lifetime, one was about two years ago. My surgeon mentioned the laproscopic and advised the healing time is slightly shorter but it is not known if it holds up as well as the tried and true open surgery. I opted for the open surgery. It was a day surgery, small incision and it was a couple of weeks before the pain totally went away but it does take some time after that before you should start exercising again. The first couple of days it hurts like hell. Just trying to lay down hurts because your abdominals stretch out. Thank god for percocet.
