Food poisoning at Fat Duck - Page 3

Remember when something like this happened to cruise ships a few years ago? They traced it to a bacteria living in the fresh water tanks. Some ships had to be taken out of service and have their tanks fumigated (or something). Not sure how this might explain a land restaurant, but the multiple cases over many months is eerily similar.

Norwalk Virus or just "norovirus." It also has been found in commercial food kitchens, like those of a hospital or college cafeteria type setting.

Cruise ships still get Norovirus on a fairly regular occurence (although the percentage is very small, it still happens with regularity if that makes any sense).

Norovirus has been rampant across the UK the last two winters anyhow, so good luck to whoever is trying to find the cause...

This winter was the worst since the 2002 winter. Upwards of 3 million people in the UK had the virus in the space of two months according to the HPA.

I wonder if Blumenthal ever got sick himself? On a night he is there (if he ever actually is there), he would have to have tasted almost everything on the menu, even if just a bite.
