Why is eating oatmeal in the morning important? I never eat breakfast. Isn't eating nothing better than eating something when it comes to bodyweight?

Nothing magic about oatmeal itself, although oats and milk are some of the most nutritious foods out there, add some berries and/or fruits and you've got a pretty much complete meal - which is also one of the reasons of its popularity. Breakfast overall is regarded as the most important meal of the day simply because it affects positively on insulin sensitivity, cholesterol values and reduces the risk of overweight. Obviously eating nothing will result in a loss of weight but it's not really the healthy way of doing it.

Not sure if there's any truth to it, but there was a study put out that stated that the reason the Scottish population has gotten heavier the last generation was because they stopped eating their porridge in the mornings. Supposedly, the porridge helped the body from uptaking the high amounts of fried foods and fats inherent in their diets.

That's funny.

I work at keeping myself full of protien, fat and fiber all day, and it has been very effective.

to the OP - I'd get low carb protien shakes, atkins does a good one, and go on that for 2 weeks. that will knock off 10 pounds, if you stick to nothing but 4 or 5 shakes a day. they';; keep you full and feeling good, just bored out of your mind.

Also, cut the sodium and anything else that might be causing bloating.

I have been lsoing a bout 1.5 pounds a week by cooking at home and using a few aids. My doctor recommended the over the counter Alli with meals. I added popping cinammon and apple cider vinegar before each meal ( you can buy cinammon caps in the pharmacy or make your own with empty capsules from Vitamin Shoppe). If going out I pocket the capsules and tell dinner mates I am taking vitamins. A swig of apple cider vinegar dilluted with water from a small emtpied bottle and downed in the loo helps. I also found white kidney bean extract and take this before wine or cocktails. My doctor has approved all this. I went for smaller waist trousers this weekend!

I used to when I was younger but I am 42 now with increased work and family responsibilities, so I don't have time for 2 evenings a week for practice and games on Saturdays. I still love the game though.

Hi Chad, I`ve been using the Qwave system which provides an exact estimation of the total daily energy consumption. It`s kind of Fitness journal which is very easy to learn and to maintain. I find it really helpful and if you`re interested you could read more on qwave.com All the best
