What kind of casual shoes do you wear?

I've worn Birkenstock clogs for about 5 years now, and I think it's time for a change now that I'm about to leave high school. For one, the clogs last like 6 months tops. I go sockless and they deteriorate. Two, they aren't that attractive now that I think about it, though they do have a simple charm. And three, for some reason they are starting to hurt my feet, which completely nullifies the purpose of the shoes. Now, sneakers look like sh.t on me. Especially with my current wardrobe (jeans with button-up or polo). I have a pair of leather Sperry Topsiders and while they are nifty for trotting around in, they make me feel like an old country-clubber. And, while I've always been in love with driving loafers (Tod's...drooool), I heard their pebbled soles wear down with walking...which is a shame. So, with all that in mind, do you guys have any suggestions?

This depends alot on your personality, but I love wearing my motorcycle boots around.

Yeah, shoes are all about your own personality and taste. I'm wearing a pair of Hogan's right now. Otherwise, I'm in Rainbow flip-flops, or leather sneakers such as Prada, Diesel, Rush, Dovi, etc. I try not to pay much attention to the names, if I see a shoe that I really like, I have to have it. Something else to consider would be Puma's or other retro trainers. Although I don't care for them much, they are pretty popular right now...

i have a pair of black leather Camper sneakers with white seams in a figure-8 style pattern across them that i really like. i've also got a pair of brown leather slip-ons by Simple Shoes (that they have a TON of at Marshall's for $29 last time i checked) that are fairly cool.

How about a pair of suede slip-ons, like these? I've recently bought a nearly identical pair, in a camel/tan color, with rubber soles. They look great with jeans, chinos, and even dark charcoal and navy trousers, and, most importantly, they're very comfortable. Dark brown suede is also a safe bet... (I can't really help you with brands. The shoes pictured above are from RL Purple Label, mine aren't quite so prestigious   , they're from an obscure Australian company.) Nick.

Personally, I like trainers, retro or otherwise. If you don't like sneakers, however, I would recommend Clarks desert boots or Blundstones. Both are comfortable and pretty stylish for loafing around in. More importantly, both are fairly durable and neither is particularly expensive.

i wear a pair of these: i was really happy when i bought them, but the bad thing about prada is they are waaaay too fashionable. the stuff goes out of style quick. it might be too much to spend for shoes you can only wear a year or two.

I'll second Blundstones, I wear the 902 model everywhere. Stylish enough not to be bland, but not flash enough to be overly noticeable. The only caveat I would have, is most Blundstones are made for people with curved feet - if you have straight feet (like I do) you're best off with something in the 0xx series or 4xx series. I also like Dansko clogs, nicer/comfier/slightly more durable than Birkenstocks IMHO, but I wouldn't go sockless in them.

Usually a pair of Gucci loafers--the classic ones with the silver bit.

I have a pair of suede slipons (similar to the ones earlier in this thread, but more tan, less greyish), a pair of Adidas Superstars (white w/ black stripes) and a pair of Oakley FLESH slip-ons. I was thinking of gettin a pair of Camper-style shoes (i got the suede shoes instead). Or even a more casual lookin loafer. I dont know bout you, but sneakers, some light colored jeans with a polo work for me.

I usually wear grey suede Prada America Cup lace-up sneakers with jeans, or tan leather Gucci loafers. I also have similar black Prada-knockoff driving shoes that I wear.

I have 5 pairs of casual shoes: - black Bally "dressy" sneakers - khaki suede Tod's loafers - antiqued brown leather Tod's loafers - canvas/suede Hogan boat shoes - black deerskin (or at least feels like) slip ons loafers by Camper. Out of all of these, I get the most compliments on my Bally. Can't say that I have a favorite. I like all of them. :-)

This thread was like stepping into the Twilight Zone. Then I realized all the posts are four years old. I wonder how our spammy friend even found it.

And why in God's name he chose it to latch onto!
