Why is it surprising there are students? We don't all wear clothing we bought at charity shops and pay for cans of beans by cheque. Actually in the UK with the loan I would think Student probably have more disposable income then people just starting out in work with mortgages etc. to pay. Also there is a big undercurrent of getting the best deal possible and stuff that will last (both in terms of style and not falling to pieces) on the site which appeals. Plus we have A LOT of time to post pointless things on the internet.

Actually I think the OP had a thoughtful question. It never hurts to know what the perspective is of a poster. It helps immensely in understanding their POV.

Unfortunately the responses so far seem to say alot about SF and I don't know that it is flattering.
