I don't know how the hell you'd prove that, But I've already shown my statement to be true. There are baseball diamonds in MOST of South America, because there are baseball teams in most of South America that are governed by an international body.

you're getting completely off the subject. the u.s. has a water polo team. does that mean americans are into water polo? does anyone give a damn about water polo aside from the tiny minority of people who actually play it?

I don't know why I keep talking to you. You have no point and are just trolling the shit out of this thread. The IBF is not some five guy organization. It sanctions play between teams sponsored by the member countries, including the US. If the country is a member country, they sponsor baseball teams to compete at an international level. Thus, if a COUNTRY sponsors a team, say in the Olympics, or in an international tournament, it would make sense that they have a fucking baseball diamond, doesn't it? For example, there are baseball diamonds in Argentina, Aruba, Bahamas, Bolivia, Brazil, BVI, Canada, Chile, Columbia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Ned Antilles, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Puerto Rico, USA, US Virgin Islands, and Venezuela. Those are the countries in the pan-American region that have a national baseball team, and or other teams that engage in international play.

again, the fact that there is a team does not mean there is a following of that sport. do i have to repeat that a million times? the jamaicans have a bobsled team. mexico has a rugby team you know how many guys in mexico play rugby? about the same number of guys who are on our national team.

do you know why they dropped baseball as an olympic sport? that's right.

Actually, you don't have a subject. Other that just trying purposefully to piss me off. Which you are succeeding at doing. Baseball is a sport that is enjoyed, played, and practiced in many countries. Some of whom are included in the World Baseball Classic. Do you have a problem with countries, who play a competitive sport at a high enough level, engaging in a "World Championship" when some other countries may not follow that sport? Well too bad. You are free to fuck off and not care. In fact, I insist.

If the US won an international water polo competition vs all the other water polo playing countries in the world (like say, at the Olympics) people would care. People care about a lot of stupid things, like gymnastics, and ice skating, and swimming, and track and field that nobody really gives a shit about otherwise. Its about competition dumbass, not how popular soccer is. We are not discussing fucking soccer. I know this is one of those "I'm going to steer this conversation into how shitty American sports are vs soccer" bullshit threads, I've done this dance with you before - but I'm going to cut that shit off right now. Nobody cares about you or your dumb opinions on sports, generally, people who might otherwise be inclined to agree with you find you annoying. You have added nothing to this thread except to ruin my mood, and act yet again like a simpering idiot. You want to bet me money that there isn't a baseball diamond in nearly every country in South America? Go ahead and just give me your money. You want to claim that the Dominican Republic isn't able to field a competitive team, and nobody should care because there aren't enough people on that island? You are ignorant and a buffoon. If the WBC proves anything, its that Baseball is being played at very high levels all over the world. And that while it may be most popular in the US, Its also popular enough in other countries to have a real competition between "us" and "them". Do you really think that anyone really cares about competitive swimming? They do when Micheal Phelps is winning 8 gold medals. Other than that? Nope. I'm not going around saying that those gold medals during international competition are meaningless because competitive swimming isn't as big in Africa or South America as it is in the U.S. Even though only a handful of countries take competitive swimming seriously, and most of the elite swimmers train in the U.S. and speak English... I'm not going to claim that the best swimmers in the world aren't the best swimmers in the world - or that a gold medal or world record, or whatever isn't valid. Only an idiot would do that.

Why are you such an annoying little bitch? Can you just answer me that one question? I mean, what - did you grow up in an orphanage or something?

this thread is silly. matador - there will be a tournament whether you think it is worthwhile or not. Enjoy it, mock it in the comfort of your own home, or change the channel. Whichever you decide, don't post any more about it here. Slim - you know better. Get some sleep.

How many people who play soccer in organized "pro" leagues do you think are making a living. I'll give you a hint, just like every other sport in the world, very very few.

baseball is, at best, a niche sport in italy and holland, and at some level below that everywhere else in europe and practically non-existent in africa. so japan are champions of baseball, congratulations, but world champions is meaningless in that sport.

The fallacies! They burn!

I guess one could mention the absurd amounts of money WORLD WIDE that is generated from baseball, the millions of viewers WORLD WIDE etc. etc.

You'd be surprised. I'm often surprised by how easily I've found diamonds and leagues in my travels...world wide.

I'm just tired of the elitist attitude. If you aren't a fan, all it takes is for you to say you aren't a fan, don't sit there and make up bullshit excuses why the rest of us are stupid for liking a sport. I'm not even a huge baseball fan, but I do enjoy the competition.

Back on topic:
Japan is number one! Everyone else is number two or more!

Korea put up a hell of a fight though, they are worthy opponents.
Warriors on both teams for sure.

I want Iwakuma pitching in MLB soon. That guy got hosed during the WBC, overshadowed by both Daisuke and Darvish, he pitched lights out ball every time they put him on the mound.

Rest of the world can suck it.
