how's the quality of the AA t-shirts after you wash them?

AA seems to be the most consistant with their quality/fit.

I have 4 or 5 solid tshirts from Express that I love... but I got 2 more a few months ago, and I hate wearing them... they have a bit more stretch in them then the older shirts from there, and something about the fit just doesn't feel right. I'm assuming BR/Gap is probably about the same; there's not always consistancy with their basic products.

Being 6'2" and skinny, I usually have my tshirts tailored for a slimmer fit; but my shirts from AA fit great right off the rack.

I've got to disagree here. My experience has been that their sizing is all over the map.

Just out of curiousity, what size AA do you wear at 6'2" and skinny?

And also... how skinny is skinny (chest/waist)?

Fit aside, the sweatshop-free aspect should tip this in favor of AA. I'm sick of GAP/BR exploiting my Filipino brethren.

Which of their shirts have you guys tried as I notice the tees come in a 50/50 poly blend, 50/25/25 poly blend, 100 cotton jersey, and 100 cotton baby rib?

The one I have is 100 cotton.

All of my AA stuff is size Medium.
I have a 38" chest, and 30" actual waist (though I wear 32x34 jeans).

But yeah, AA over every other US corporation messing with Filipinos.

True, and the collar has a scratchy seam on the inside. It's a stupid design.

I'm going to disagree about the AA praise. I have 2 shirts from them which are the most terrible construction I have ever seen on any t shirt. I will post pics soon. The back side is riding up as if it was too small, there is massive torquing (what are they, unsanforized???) and the stitching is way off. It has turned into my sleep shirt (usually reserved for free shirts I get from job fairs).

Back to Jockey plain t s for me.

I might suggest trying the organic cotton t-shirts. I bought some of the regular http://www.americanapparelstore.com/2001.html t-shirts, and while they are ok they are a bit thin for my tastes. I bought some graphic t's from this other company however, which are printed on the organic shirts. They are a bit thicker and much softer.

I just bought a brown t-shirt Sunspel via the STP site. Normally not a color I'd wear in a tee, but I like the softness and fit (not roomy but not skin tight). They're only about $10 with the 10% disc. you get through the link at this site. Unfortch, they only have XL in brown now, and I think size M. But worth checking out if you think they'll fit you.
