What do you think of Napoli-esque (e.g. Barba, Borrellii, etc.) button down shirts? I'm not even thinking of the crazy spread collar variety. For example, some Barba BDs have a reasonable collar with a bit of roll, even though they rarely use oxford cloth. Now, do these shirts combine the flattering Neapolitan style with the casual and intellectual allure of trad American shirts, or are they monstrous chimerae to be avoided at all costs? I sometimes think that a Neapolitan BD-type shirt without the buttons on the collar would be quite wearable. Sort of a 1930's-1940's Neapolitan shirt (ultrasoft, almost unlined, longish, rolled collar). I might experiment with my new shirtmakers next time I'm at my parents' in Italy.
