Burkman Bros. - Page 2

Seen a lot of this today & decided to purchase an item. Quality is very good on the shirts, especially the lined shirts. Some of the unlined are quite nice too, although I tried a four pocket flannel that was far too small, even when I sized up one (khaki workshirt). All others I had to size up one for a comfortable fit. Chinos look quite good. Some of the jackets are not to my taste but I didn't see any issues with quality. There was one blue jacket which was quite nice, the one with a white banded pattern across the chest. All round some great workwear items. The only criticism with the shirt that I have is that the buttons aren't as substantial as I'd like, there is a very small chain loop inside the collar which I really don't like and will be removed. However the fabric is very nice, very soft and very comfortable and I expect these to get even better with wear. The lining is spot on imo, a great contrast and makes this quite a thick shirt. ideal to layer over a lighter weight top. The colors are very good imo, they look so much better when you see these and the grey and green flannel is exceptionally nice.. pics on the web don't do it the slightest of justice. here's a few links to the shirt I purchased: http://i553.photobucket.com/albums/j...o/IMG_1225.jpg http://i553.photobucket.com/albums/j...o/IMG_1226.jpg http://i553.photobucket.com/albums/j...o/IMG_1227.jpg http://i553.photobucket.com/albums/j...o/IMG_1234.jpg

That shirt is nice.
Did you take your normal size or did you need to size up?

burkman is SLIM, especially in the shoulder. I was an XL in their button downs and a L in their shirt jackets. really like this line

just had to walk over to barneys and check out what this burkman bros was all about and see for myself...after thorough inspection, i'd say the photo speaks for itself....workmanship quality for $225? not so much.

I'm not excusing it, but I see this kind of stuff with many other brands sold at Barneys for just as much (EG, Vince, BoO, Varvatos, SA). I learned years ago to inspect the garment I'm buying myself. You can't trust someone in India, China, or even the US to do it for you. At any price.

Nothing like the quality I have seen, were there a few like this?

Same applies to other brands, I have had to return items from NDG & apc in the last 12 months.

The lack of craftsmanship in the above photo is what turned me off when I checked 'em out at my local Coop in Aventura early this year. I was stoked to see them on the rack, but when I tried the shirts on, they didn't seem as well-constructed as I'd imagined, as there were loose ends in several spots (on more than one shirt). Maybe it's intentional, but if it is, it would be good to pass that info on to the salespeople, b/c they were just as unimpressed with the loose threading as I was. I ended up buying Steven Alan and Loden Dager shirts.

Can't speak to the F09 line, but the picture doesn't lie... Damn, I was hoping they would get it "right" this time around, too. Although, I am feeling this season's khaki uniform pant (but not the price point).

Resurrecting an old post to ask a fit Q:

I read that it fits slim, but would a guy with a 39" or so chest be able to fit into the size S of the lined shirts", like FatMod's.

Just saw one on sale for $109, is it worth it to take a gamble?

I own a burkman shirt. One of the lined Madras/plaid button ups from FW09.

The brand isn't the slimmest I've come across.

I wear a small in gap and some j.crew/ some polo ralph lauren.
I wear a medium (40) in most rag and bone for a slim fit, a medium in most RRL, theory, paul smith
I wear a Large in Wolf V Goat, Band of Outsiders, etc.

I took this shirt in a Medium and I tend to wear US40s although my chest is slightly bigger than that.

Bumping this thread up. What's the thoughts on the quality recently?

there were a bunch of these shirts at the LA Barney's Warehouse Sale. Looked pretty nice to me, better than steven alan.
