The gay face theory works well.

i have seen old guys 50+,great shape,lean...but gaunt looking as they prefer to look lean than healthy

after a certain age you have choice to make,and you cant have both

lean=gaunt face

not lean= younger looking face

this applies to women too, as they have to choose between a great ass or young looking face...after 40,you cant have both

look at female hollywood actresses who are in their 40s and 50s...they just lose the plot

their whole self worth has just disappeared eg heather locklear

the gay guys i know who are getting on, spend all their disposable income...i am talking major work like plastic surgery,chest implants,hair transplants,hair pieces...you name it

This just makes me glad I'm not, nor have I been, a part of the "community." I find it as depressing, vacuous, and counterproductive as I ever did find it comforting. The pressure to "fit in" or conform there is often even more intense than in straight settings. It's a shame, really... so many boys spend their early lives trying to get away from feeling pressured, oppressed, or "different" only to be brought into a setting that is just as negative, only that the pressure is coming from people like them.

You've just come out havent you?

To answer the OP's question: it increases my confidence and productivity, which in turn makes just about every aspect of my life better.

I'm vain

The boost in testosterone also makes me feel good.

When I can be bothered, which is rarely, the motivation is usually some stupid "weekend warrior" sports thing I want to be ready for.

To looking good and being healthy, I would add relieving stress and bringing order to my life.
