Hickey Freeman sales - Page 2

Like I said, nothing to get excited about unless you want a cashmere overcoat for over 1/2 off (as I do) or if you need some new trousers, not a blow out. Makes me very sad I was out of town for PS sale.

any updates on whats left at this point?

What's the general consensus on Hickey's overcoats? How do they compare to, say, Barneys or Bergdorf's private label?
I have compared the 100% cashmere offerings of Barneys and Hickey and I think Hickey is of better construction, but YMMV.

anyone been there today or know of further markdowns coming? thinking about heading to NYC after my exams are over if the finds are good...

I was going to go tomorrow for the hell of it, will report back. Edit: scratch that, I thought tomorrow was the last day. I'm going to wait until the last day.

I'm gonna try to head there today. I'll report back.

All suits are priced at 569.99, 3 for $1500. Most of them seem to be the Madison model. Shirts are priced at 70$ and the cashmere overcoats are $799. Still a decent amount of stock left.

I went today anyway. Horrible sale. Unless you desparately need to fill a void in your closet, do no waste your time. Standard quality, high prices.
called in today to see if it's worth the train trip. now, no need to buy 3 suits to get $500/suit, it's 2 suits for $1000. at that price point i'd rather pick up a canali or belvest...

There were still many, many suits this afternoon in my (common) size 42R. All marked down from about 1298 to 570. Too bad I just bought a suit. I would have gotten the navy windowpane one.

At some point the merchant has to get rid of the goods. These guys were somewhat unfortunate to be following the Paul Stewart sale - that one evidently really blew out the stuff to move it. Consider what the merchant now has to do. They paid for the special hall for the sale, they paid for the clerks and sales people. They are left with stull that did not move, first at full retail, now at 2/3 off. Where does it go? They would have been better off - considering that they had already paid the sale costs - to mark is down to 90% off than to pay for the additional handeling, storage, and transport to give it to the Salvation Army. I wa not at the Paul Stewart sale, unfortunately. But it sure seemed, from the reports, that they did what was necessary to move that stuff on to someone else.

I don't think it goes to any goodwill or salvation army (but if it does, please let me know which location I can find the items at ). I would assume that they sell off the remaining items to places such as Filene's Basement or Century 21. I always see HF at Filene's.
