hi,
look for a down vest with high quality down, 700 or preferably 800 cuin - this makes them warm and at the same time not bulky.

the patagonia down vest is good quality, but probably too much a 'skijacket' for you liking.

edit: HeBAY at superfuture posted great scans of old gear. Some of the vintage ones are a little much, but a lot look great. This sierra designs on ebay looks like it may be stained, but the design is solid.

Anyone know where to get the Land's End one in Manhattan? It seems hardly worth it to pay $8 in shipping..

These are my personal madeline cookies - they recall childhood so strongly. My brothers and I had Jansport ones. I hated them as a kid, but the pull of nostalgia is strong....

Try Sears. If they don't have it in-store you can order it there and have it shipped to your house for free. Just look for the Land's End section in Sears.

Didn't Waste(Twice) make some nice collaboration down vests with Rocky Mountain Featherbed this past season? I'm pretty sure RMF made a few collaboration vests with BEAMS as well.

I have a tremendous vintage North Face one, that I am probably going to sell because it's a touch big. But, vintage North Face stuff can be logoless and really nice. Oh, and it was made in the USA!

Just got mine from Lands End. Ordered a small because I have a 39 in chest, but unfortunately I'm 6'1 and it just hit to high. Wish they made it in tall but I guess I have to return it. I love how a small is labeled 34-36 when it's clearly not a 34-36.

For anyone interested in the Lands End vest, here is a 20% off code and PIN:

Lands End Promo Code - 20% off Promotion ends March 13, 2009

Lands End Promo Code "MAR13"
Pin "00003791"

This brings the total to $31.69 with standard shipping.

Did you size down? The fit actually does look really good in that Mens Style pic.
