Beware the crash diet plan. Losing 40-50 pounds is a lengthy project, and you've got to have a plan to keep it off. Protein is great, but don't neglect to eats lots of vegetables (especially leafy greens) and fruit. The key is to restructure your eating habits around healthy choices. You really can change your tastes.
