it was a bit of shock, but it made sense. he was never super tough, and his gang (barksdale) was pretty much dead so he could get out.

i coulnt really hate to many character for killing they made, it was part of the game, they all knew it. sure some were more evil and ruthless, but for the most part they were all part of the game.

I just got around to watching 'The Wire'. Seasons 1-3 were remarkable. Season 4 was solid but McNulty was sorely missing and Marlo was 5% as interesting as Stringer. Season 5 was based entirely on a ridiculous plot line and Omar's death left a lot to be desired.

Apart from Ziggy, I can't think of one other character that comes off as a caricature. Until we get to the newsroom in Season 5. Gus was cool I guess, but the plagiarist journalist and their management were totally one dimensional. They seemed to exist only to express the message that the modern newspaper is a mess that is killing journalism and the society (local and wider) it serves. Ok, I get that but there was no subtlety unlike other seasons.
Was the above still too dumb for you?

I think Brother Mouzone wins that title.

As dumb as his character is, I still find the scene where Omar gets the jump on him as one of the funniest in the series.

I think the funniest scene is where Ziggy tries to beat up Maui. That scene kills me. Oh yeah, and anytime the song Lovechild is played.

As someone who used to deal with Nation of Islam folks--he isn't. I have no idea if they shoot folks or anything but his day-to-day interactions are spot on.

It's not so much his lines or the way he carries himself, it's more the fact that a lone man with a gun could run off the entire East side gangs. He's almost like Hannibal Lechter in the sense that he's nearly got every angle figured out. It gets annoying after a while.
