I'm a true US 9 and wanted to make sure sizing down 1/2 (asa per site) would be ok. Otherwise I have a fairly standard width foot.

cheers

I own the black double monks and find them TTS. I believe they are on a different last than most of the other shoes.

thanks for the input gents, much appreciated. The Dmonks were the ones I was looking at. Guess I'll have to pass this time.

One note about the dmonks (maybe others): the insole isn't padded all the way through. It's hard to describe, but the outer edges in the picture attached don't have any padding. It's like walking directly on wood. Otherwise, the shoes are phenomenal - I did size down to a 10, but I'm a smallish 10.5 anyhow. Love the shoes other than this sole deal.

I can now vouche for the need to size up with the Italian cut. Way too snug in the seat and crotch in my normal size. I just ordered the next size up and will return these size 34 medium grey tropical wool trousers soon. That said the quality of these trousers was very high and I can't wait until the new ones arrive.

I've been meaning to ask..what exactly about the HY trousers make them high quality? What if I wanted a local tailor to make very similar ones, what are prices I (you) would expect to pay? Thanks.

To keep it simple...fabric and construction...good cuts (fit pattern) too. The tailor question is pretty impossible to answer without knowing where you are.
