Howard Yount: Affiliate thread - Page 298

Another upset customer... Ordered an umbrella that I was dissatisfied with and, in keeping with the advertised policy, wanted to exchange it or get a refund.  Sent multiple emails both to Jamison and to the Howard Yount email address.  Also used the website's contact form.  Have received no response.  Not a good feeling.

For anyone currently considering making a purchase from Howard Yount, I would advise looking elsewhere.

^For whatever reason - and I must state that I don't agree with it, as a lot of businesses live and die by their customer service, or lack thereof - Jamison of Howard Yount simply hasn't been communicating with customers. He virtually never seems to respond to e-mails, he doesn't post here anymore (and hasn't for the better part of 18 months), he doesn't update his Tumblr and he doesn't even e-mail out notifications of new season stock to his mailing list anymore.

Despite that, people still keep on buying from Howard Yount as he provides great products at very good prices.

As far as I am aware, if someone has an unsatisfactory product, they simply post it back to the returns address with a note. Jamison usually deals with it promptly and either issues a refund or sends you a new product.

It would be far, far better if he actually communicated with customers, but in most cases things still work out.

Good points, Journeyman, but it hasn't always been the case. He was engaged here, answered emails, etc. That many of us continue to purchase from him is a testament to the quality of merchandise he offers but I am worried that most of the signs point to a failing enterprise.

Or one that is just unbelievably successful... I kinda like to think he is too busy to do the "small" stuff because customers are coming through doors and windows but I fear I am wrong. confused.gif

The guy lives about 3 blocks away from me, and while it would be weird to just go over there, I kind of hope I bump into him on the street sometime so that I can ask him what the actual f*ck.

In partial defence of Jamison, remember he has a day job and does HY as a sideline gig.
Also, wasn't it Pitti last week? It's possible he was out of the country recently. This may not be acceptable to those with grievances but may at least partly explain the lack of communication.

Also, always seems weird when a persons first post is crapping on a vendor.

especially when lots of people have said - he might not respond to emails, but if you send in the stuff you want returned, and mark it as retuned, he will refund once received.

I agree with the sentiment.

This is incorrect though. This thread is basically the only place to get info on HY. If I was a pissed off customer, I wouldn't read a thread and look if someone had a weird work around. I would post my frustration and go from there.
Also the sending back stuff does not always work.

Unfortunately, I suspect you are right.  Perhaps less a failing enterprise as much as a burned out owner/operator?

Not really, in my opinion. A lot of people will sign up to whatever forum may be the only place where a business they had a bad experience with is being discussed. HY certainly fits that bill.

It certainly didn't seem like a troll post.

I'm a lot more wary of brand new accounts singing praises of under the radar businesses than I am of ones voicing complaints.

I also don't see how it's weird it's his first post. Perhaps he should have hung around for a few months and posted in other threads first, so that his complains would have some legitimacy?

I can report that I recently ordered two pairs of pants and they arrived in Sweden after 6 days. One of the pants arrived without the main button, and after a mail to Jamison he replied and offered a refund. The refund was processed after two days. Thats quite ok in my book.

^^ that was lucky. Seems to me he has time to pack order , write hand note, and fix problem if it is his fault ( like faulty product) . But he just don't bother with issues when customer at fault or general inquiries .

You should print that email and frame it bro. It's like a sighting of the Loch Ness Monster.

NO HE DOES NOT

It is extremely aggravating that people keep pretending that we are making this up. He may take returns SOMETIMES, but I bet I'm not the only one who got a package sent back unclaimed.

Here is a return that I sent in APRIL: http://i.imgur.com/8fh5M7t.jpg

I don't know what other proof I can provide that it is an extremely risky proposition to buy from Howard Yount. Yes, the materials and prices are great. However, if they don't fit, do not expect to be able to return them. He will not respond to email. He will not pick your package up. And then you will have no recourse other than to raise a stink on some internet forum.

Next time I'm in NYC, whether it's a day or a year from now, I am taking this stupid package to his door and at least getting some kind of response from him. At this point I'm assuming the money will never be refunded. I just want some kind of acknowledgement that there is a problem here.
