Finally got my first pair of Howard Yount trousers today. I ordered a 30 and 32 to see the sizing. The 32 I think are a little too big for me. While the 30 fit comfortably, I noticed that the pockets "pucker out" quite significantly when I walk and sit down. I think this may be because the fit right below where the pocket openings end is a little too tight for my thigh. Do you guys think this is something that can be altered by my tailor? I don't have a lot of experience with tailoring clothes so I'm not sure on this one.

I've been told that if you have pocket flare one way to minimize it is to let out the seat.

seat is rear rise? if so, can that be let out (specifically asking for HY pants)?

I have also noticed that I get a little pocket flare on my HY trousers. I think that they fit me fairly well in general (size 34), but there seems to be a little too much fabric in the front, where the pockets are. I don't think they are too tight elsewhere. This isn't really fixable, so I'm trying to decide if I can live with it.

I have some pocket flare on mine and my tailor does exactly this to fix it.

It's preferable to size up and take in the waist. With non-wool pants, letting out the seat could also leave stitch marks behind (I think there's a pic a few pages back).

Can anyone comment on whether the "stone" color of the Garment Dyed Cotton Canvas pants is:

a) cooler (bluish)
b) neutral lt gray
c) warmer (tan/yellow/brownish)

Not easy to tell from the pics. Also wondering about the lt gray Four Season super 100s wool trousers.

FWIW, Jamison took about a week to respond via email to my return request, but he was probably busy with the spring launch. Not unreasonable for a small business I think. The return address was uptown, not the midtown location, so I wouldn't just send things back without confirming the address first.

From what I understand the seat has to do with the fabric across your butt, whereas the rise is perpendicular to that.

I went to my tailor and after we discussed it, we decided to close the pant pockets. The pants are pretty slim fitting so we thought that putting things in my pockets would detract from the look anyways. We'll see how it turns out when I pick them up on Monday.

That's an... Interesting decision.

That is one of the most asinine things I've ever heard. You're essentially giving yourself fake pockets on your pants for the sake of not having them flare out a little bit (which no one in the real world will ever notice)? Fashion for fashion's sake.

^ Seems rather odd indeed...

I recently ordered some wool trousers from HY to be shipped to the UK but the tracking number Jamison provided me with doesn't seem to be updating. The last update was "Dispatched to sort facility" on 08 April. Can anyone who is more familiar with USPS please offer some advice? My tracking number is LC946976131US.

Cheers

Agreed that this is a step too far. That said, though the average person wouldn't be able to articulate that the seat is too small, they will certainly notice the strange protrusions in the same way they would notice the inseam being too long/short.

I don't believe USPS tracking updates after the package leaves the country, unfortunately.
