I think stocking a larger number of units in the staple sizes / colors would be a good idea. The black chestnut umbrella sold out fairly quickly, but there are many tartan options still lingering on. I would guess that 90% of the people that buy an umbrella want it in black.

I would also suggest sizing be skewed towards the smaller end - 38R / 32" seems to be sold out in almost everything very quickly.

I'm sure Jamison is aware of these suggestions however, and he definitely knows way more about what to stock than I do.

I tried to asked them a question about a week ago, but got no response yet. Any comment on their responsiveness, or if that comment form actually works?

He told me that he was leaving to visit family for the holiday and would return around the New Year timeframe. It's a one-man show and he's on vacation - I'm sure that he'll get back to you.

^I would say yes.
It's actually quite neutral IMHO.

 

My recent pair of the Made in Italy VBC Super 120s Flannels size 28 claim a 36" unfinished inseam on the website, but actually measure as 37".

 

The Made in USA pairs claim a 38" inseam.

This has probably been mentioned numerous times, but I can't find it in the thread. Who manufactures HY shoes? The site says the shoes are made in Spain, but who specifically manufactures them.

It's HY's policy to not disclose their manufacturers.

A little pilling is natural. I don't find these pill too much--it is a problem I've found with lambswool sweaters from other places.

I'm going to Italy this week and will order more. So, probably early March.

Yes, I actually have the dove grey in stock but haven't had a chance to photograph it yet.

I have a classic flannel pair that I've worn nearly once a week for over three years and they're still going strong.

I'm hoping on the earlier side--mid April.

I'd go with the size 30 pants, and the small sweater. XS would be tight--wearable, but I'd advise against it unless you wanted a very form fitting sweater.

Balancing sizes and stock is always an issue. I endeavor to not be stuck with a lot of (very expensive) merchandise! Keep in mind that our markups are significantly lower than what is standard in retail.

Others may be able to suss this out, but as a rule we do not give out the names of our manufacturers. There are a whole bunch of reasons: because the items are made expressly for HY, a manufacturers brand name is usually not the most helpful in understanding the quality of our goods; also because they are made specifically for us, they aren't an _______ tie or a _______ shirt, they are HY items; there are issues with MSRP and the fact that we underprice many competitors; many names are not widely known; a lot of time, energy, and money is put into finding the best possible makers at the best possible price and this is not information I want to give away.

Can anyone who owns the Italy pants in a 32 or 34 measure the thigh for me (2" below crotch)? That measurement is not on the site. Thanks!

I just received my first HY blazer—the linen herringbone in black/white. Unfortunately (for my wallet) your 38R Italian suits fit me perfectly. I see this escalating quickly, especially when/if some more spring/summer 2013 offerings drop (hopefully there are a few linen suits coming up).
