I, too, would like this info. Also, that's at least twice I read about returns not being possible from Canada. What gives? Do you mean to say that it is actually a big PITA given the customs issues with reclaiming duty/taxes?

Afaik, this is mostly due to unpredictable Customs delays both ways, which affect how quickly a returned item can be restocked and sold on to another buyer. Keep in mind that HY is a relatively small retailer that offers a lot of seasonal items, some only available in limited quantities, so this is a valid concern imo.
Re reclaiming duties/taxes : it is a bit of a hassle, but nothing to do with HY. You need to provide proof of return shipping, as well as credit/reimbursement. That last part is important, particularly since it's not indicated on the CBSA form you fill out to file your claim. Proof of return shipping to the seller/sender is not enough and they'll refuse/return your claim for insufficient documentation. I've had this happen the first time I filed a claim and had to wait to get my next cc statement that showed the actual credit/reimbursement before resubmitting. Three of us? Must be more of us out there yet! BTW, thanks for the replies to my query. I've been eyeing some OTC argyle socks, so I guess it's time to order.
I am also in Winnipeg. I've ordered three items separately from HY (two pairs of trousers and a scarf). For some reason one pair of trousers had a duty charge of about 10 dollars.
Wow a lot of people from Winnipeg. I'm from Toronto, have never had any duty charged for an online purchase but I am awaiting my first order from HY...so lets see....

You could be hit with HST on any package that comes over, but duty is conditional. Were the trousers that you were charged duty on the Italian made ones perhaps? The American made ones should be exempt from duty under NAFTA.
Duty is 6% country wide, but rarely enforced unless the shipper uses a courier that performs the brokerage on your behalf. Thankfully HY uses USPS. I've found the following link somewhat accurate for calculating how much you'll be dinged: The Final Cost
I know it's late, but I just got these photos from a dance in May when my linen/wool HY jacket was new. It has since received a lot of wear. Here are some action shots that demonstrate the fit... even though I am making really goofy faces.
I'd like to point out that even in some pretty extreme movement, the high armholes allow free movement and don't make the jacket fly off my shoulders. Even when I might be accidentally lifting off most of the jacket doing other stuff. The trousers also pretty much maintain their line as I move, iPhone outline notwithstanding.
Howard Yount Linen and Wool Windowpane - Blue (Sz 36 versus the 38 I am trying on in the previous pics) Howard Yount Dyed Cotton Gabardine Pants - White
Mastai Ferreti Blue Button Down shirt (SF B&S)
Brown and White Grenson Spectators (SF B&S from excellent merchant SpooPoker)
Some stupid colorful socks I wish I didn't wear but are really popular in the swing-dance scene.
Yeah.. so.. ignore the faces, focus on the awesome clothes sold by Jamison!
Has anyone purchased one of the cashmere rugby shirts, size Small? If so, comments on fit and a measurement of back length would be really helpful for me - I'm in Canada, so nailing down sizing before purchase matters as returns aren't possible.
Thanks,
Harry
Send me a message or an email if you want more details, but I'm a size 38R in just about everything and the small rugby fits me well. Not too tight, not too loose. I'll post a picture before too long, but it's been too warm for cashmere here in NYC.

I know that at least one SF member has ordered this, but won't get the package until next week.

No idea, I'm afraid. We're having some difficulties in getting them delivered.
