Paris is Burning

I'm surprised I had not come across this much sooner given my fondness for off-beat documentary style films.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paris_Is_Burning_(film)

It sort of puts everything I see into context regarding the "gay thugs" that I see on the train or in the Barneys shoe section looking at Lanvin sneakers.

I wish they would put out an updated 2008 version.

I clicked on this thread thinking it was going to be some kind of Hollywood dirt on Paris Hilton catching an STD.

Who?

This is that film about drag families I recall.

I know one such arrangement in San Francisco with the "mother" and all that jizz.

As for the song, Paris is Burning, I prefer the Alex Gopher remix.

I'm too ghetto for Netflix; my library card suffices. Either way, I've already seen it.

Which category do you compete it? Butch realness? Opulence? Executive Realness? Femme Fantasy?

Very good movie. I saw it when it came out and rewatched it a few months ago.

Good compliment to this would be the Quetin Crisp documentary (Resident Alien?) and of course, The Naked Civil Servant starring John Hurt as QC.

When are you going to show LK the sights of gay NY?

Excellent film. This is the one in which of the drag queens comments, "All men are dogs, and sooner or later they all start barking," right?
