Tom Cruise was up in my general neighborhood of the world yesterday. It was on the news. Since when does a celebrity signing autographs make the friggin evening news?

the story probably bumped an exposé on, like, rain or something.

I can't remember the last time I drove my car to work. Probably 12-13 work days. That rules.

This thread has now reached 11 pages. Since I am celebrity/pop-culture impaired, having never owned a TV in my life, and am completely and utterly clueless, would someone care to fill me in on the salient details? It appears that Tom Cruise has done something to deserve the attention and derision of Style Forum (a fate worse than death).

Could someone please explain in a short bulleted list what the fuss is about?

Thanks, m@t. I should have known I could count on you to distill the essentials.

I had to look every bit of it up on Wikipedia to get the full lowdown and even get some vague concept of who Katie Holmes is.

For a minute, there I was afraid, I was havnig a Vaclav moment.
