Chukka versus Chelsea, the Showdown - Page 2

Don't own a pair of chukka's yet so I'm biased. However I REALLY like the chelseas I have. I've received numerous compliments on them as well.

Chelsea boots. By a long way. I have never really like chukkas, the laces just look weird. Chelsea boots seem so practical to me, they slip on, can be quite smart but equally dress down well, and unlike Douglas I think Chelsea boots work pretty well in the country, both with country clothing and with a Dainite sole they can handle a bit of mud just fine.

+1 Chelsea boots. I like chukkas too but I'd pick oxford and derby boots before it.

Both have their place, but Chelsea edges out Chukka for me. No laces to bother with and I like the uninterrupted expanse of leather.

I've had to curtail my chelsea wearing lately because of a minor foot issue, and so I've been sporting more snug-fitting chukkas. As such, I was ever-so-briefly tempted to vote chukkas, but then I stayed true to my first love.

My boot list, while we're doing it:

Chelseas
Chukkas
Blucher
Jodhpur
Balmoral

Chelseas are for your skinny suit wearing set, thin as an exclamation point. Since I am neither, the chukkas have my love.

This is tough, really tough. One of the closest polls in the history of SF. I chose chelsea even though I have never owned a pair, and I have owned 2-4 pairs of chukkas. Obviously that makes no sense. I would love if R. M. Williams made a "premium" version without branding on the pulls. The only thing I don't like about chelseas is the elastic looks all blown out when they get old. That's lame.

i always am weary about the elastic on chelsea boots, i feel in 10 years it may lose its elasticity, therefore the CHUKKA WINS
actually i just like chukkas better overall, now where are my damn loake kemptons from pediwear I ordered in january!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chukkas. Non-urbanites unite! Chelseas always strike me as overly-refined. Steed would wear them. Jodhpurs would be my second choice.

The logic of your first paragraph breaks down in the second one IMO.

The strap and buckle is enough to make it less elegant, less refined, to my eye. Chelseas are very streamlined.
