Looking at Lacoste polos - can anyone testify to their fit?

I'm looking at getting a Lacoste polo - specifically, this one: http://shopapparel.lacoste.com/p/Sho...olo/B000Q3A8J4. (Try to ignore the goofy model).

I've heard various things about the polos, but I most often hear that they run very large and boxy prior to washing, and that they shrink immensely after washing. I don't have the time to find a retailer and personally try one on, so I'm wondering if I can get some tips on what size to buy.

Right now, I'm considering getting XXS (2) since I hear the polos are so roomy. I'm about 5'6.5" and 135 lbs. A Polo custom-fit polo in 'small' fits me PERFECTLY - I mean it's truly is the ideal fit for me. I know I'm not the only small person on this board!

Thanks

I have the pique stretch polo in size 2, it's the best fitting polo I've ever tried on. It might be a different style though, the back hem is the same as the front exactly.

I remember ages before I joined this forum I bought one in size 4 (lol) and it's like a bag

Somewhat more recently tried on a 2 and it seemed like it would probably be a decent fitting shirt. But now that I've found Polo XL kids fits me like a charm I'm probably not going to bother with Lacoste for a longtime. Then again, Lacoste kids might fit me haha

Size 2 sounds about right?

You can almost send it back?

If they have actual measurements on the site, might it be a good idea to measure them to a Polo shirt you already own?!

i actually wear the lacoste kids 16 (XL) and it fits great. fitted sleeves just slightly longer than the vintage fit, and ending right below the belt. and they cost half of a normal lacoste shirt with the same material, buttons, and construction. just be sure to wash cold and hang dry or it'll prob be too small.

Do you know what the pit-to-pit measures and the length? I'm like 34" chest and 5'9" or so. Lacoste has more interesting colours than polo I find. Pit-to-pit on the RL 20 polo is 18", not washed, and is like 24.5" from the top of the shoulder to the hem in the front. If Lacoste is similar maybe I'll try one out if they ship to Canada heh or try some on when I'm in Toronto.

As mentioned, I've found that they tend to fit boxy; mine fit very nicely in the shoulders and neck, but it's too loose at the waist. The more athletic you are (broad shoulders versus narrow waist), the worse this will be. Not a terrible fit by any means, but also not optimal.

I feel pretty much the same about Fred Perry fit, while tight at shoulders, their polos are roomier at the waist, any «muscle fit» polo, anyone?

If you want a muscle fit polo, try out the Polo custom fit. Those are the slimmest fitting polos I have found.

+1 on polo custom fit, really slim. My only beef with Lacoste is that they shrink big time if you put them in the dryer once, they are really short to me and I'm only 5'10-11. I wear a size 3, and I'm like 125lbs, but I don't really enjoy a tight fitting polo so take that for what it's worth.

Lacoste also has a "Vintage" fit that is significantly slimmer. I even saw some special Vintage fit lacoste that has grosgrain trim in an attempt to capitalize off Thom Browne.

I wear lacoste quite a bit. Size down one from your normal shirt size, maybe size down two if you want a very slim fit (or try the vintage fitted polos, but they're not available in a wide variety of colors). Don't tumble-dry them or they'll shrink considerably. If you do happen to dry one and it shrinks, just hang-dry it after the next wash to allow it to stretch back ... of course, that probably only works with the knitted pique polos.

DON'T DRY THEM!!! They shrink like crazy.

I am 6" 190lbs 42" chest and I wear a 5, it fits very well, 6 is ok too, but not nearly as fitted, much boxier.
