It works great for me, though I only use it in major metro areas where coverage is good regardless.

$52.95 for Comcast Blast (16 Mbps) in San Francisco. I just upgraded from 6 Mbps when I got my new iMac last week. The 9 year old iMac I was using before wouldn't have known the difference. Soon Comcast is coming our with something even faster (more expensive).

Any opinions for internet service providers in NYC? I hate Time Warner as a company, so I refuse to give them even a penny. What about Verizon or RCN?

I'd take Verizon FiOS over any other option. Great speed for relatively low cost.

Any recommendations for ISPs in the Cambridge/Somerville MA area?

The standard route is to go for Comcast internet. However, I was thinking of getting a mobile phone plan with unlimited internet and just connecting my phone to my laptop as a modem (I live alone)... any ideas/experiences with going this route?
