I know I am responding to myself, but I just remembered that this happened today. I noticed a guy on the subway wearing a really nice maroon fedora, silk scarf and obviously bespoke overcoat. I didn't see his face until it was time to exit. Turns out it was [e-friend]. My kids wanted to know who he was and how I knew him.

Did you know there's one (and only one) in every country?

There's a charming documentary that outlines this...let's see...what was it called?...now I remember...The Boys from Brazil.

Where is the original thread about the wedding? The shoe picture has me intrigued.

One of my co-workers asked what SF was. I told her it was an email program. I am not capable of internet emotional availability just yet.

Man, Lawrence Olivier made some interesting role choices in his later years. Shouldn't that be The Boys from Naples or The Boys from Savile?

Hm, just imdb'ed it to see who else was in it. Bruno Ganz, Walter Gotell, James Mason, a whole bunch of favorites. And Steve Guttenberg! "Who makes Steve Guttenberg a star?"

TBfB makes a sweet Olivier double feature with Marathon Man.

Ditto, the subway is so much quicker around town (depending on time of day).

I try to avoid the subway as much as possible (not a fan of filth).

I see no issue with developing friendships from people whom I converse with on forums. I personally like knowing people who have dramatically different experiences and perspectives than myself.

Consequently I have friends whom I've met through odd circumstances for example: fighters who were on the same card as I, customers, movie makers, venture capitalists, etc.

The few folks I've met in person from SF have all been really cool and interesting people. The fact we all have something in common that's fairly obscure is an ideal basis from which to form a friendship.

I was invited, could not go, regret that, and certainly would not have been ashamed to go. I went to the bachelor party and had a great time.

I agree with AC, who really cares how you meet people? The idea that there should be some e-stigma strikes me as a bit odd. Jesus Christ, people meet their spouses online these days.
