Interview Etiquette

So I had an interview that was supposed to be at 11am this morning. I show up at ten to and expect to wait. Well, the writers there tell me that the editor has left and they weren't aware of me showing up. They offer me a seat, some magazines and I start reading them and waiting. and waiting. After 11:30 I go speak with the one who seems to be in charge and tell him I will leave my resume and give the editor a call later. He replies with a "What do you mean you are leaving?" I think to myself...well lets see, He wasn't here on-time, a time he choose and told me, you left two messages in the span of 40 min. saying that I was here and asking if he would be back and he never replied to them. So I said "Thanks, but I have another appointment I need to get to." left my resume with him and said "thanks." From here I am going to call him, the editor, later this afternoon to see if we can reschedule. My question is how long should one wait for an interview, if it is a scheduled appointment, and have you ever had any similar expiriences. For me, there went my day and I'm a little bummed out now so i started cooking and it will be how I spend the rest of my afternoon.

This reminds me of... "so i have a pretty big walk in shower and i usually sit down naked and let the water hit me. i know it def has enough room for 2 people. so im sitting down taking a shower and this big ma fucker almost goes on my thigh. im sorry but my dick is exposed and i do not want any spider on it, or biting it or whatever. god that was sooo nasty."

Personally before handing my resume and leaving I would have asked at what time the person conducting the interview was expected. A follow-up phone call directly to the person who set up the appointment is definitely in order.

i think you did the right thing and you seem to have a good plan when to reschedule is up to you really.

That was one of the first things I asked when they said "Oh he just left." When I arrived, to which I got "We aren't sure but we'll give him a call. One of the two calls they made for me that weren't returned.

Perfectly appropriate behavior. Just make sure you follow up and get things set straight for the real interview.

it will ethier be very helpful, or very unhelpful. If you are well qualified and they're seeking someone, it may straighten them up. they may realise that if they are discourtious, you wont put up with it.

However if they dont need you very much, or you're borderline qualified, then i dont think you will get another interview.

Ethier way, if they didnt show you the respect of being at the interview in time, or finding a way to communicate that they would be late, then i would find a different place to work.

I had a similar situation with a banana a few years back at a large bank. By the time the he arrived 45mins late he was rude and a complete asshole.......... I have since then been phoned by agents to consider other roles at that bank and I have politely suggested to them that I am not interested in working for a 'sausage factory' and they can pass back my experience to their client.

Seems to me that the editor was very disrespectful of your time. I'd look for work elsewhere.

I'd agree that was pretty disrespectful of your time but it could have been a mistake or emergency that took him away. You'll know if you should work for them if the guy apologizes for missing your appointment or not and is prompt the next time.

I've waited an hour for an interview for an internship placement. After I got the spot, I never had to interact with this person again so it didnt matter.

I still don't get the scenario though, was the guy going to eventually meet with you or was he gone??
