I was wondering, is there certain etiquette on wearing multiple rings on a hand? More specifically, can you wear a ring on the thumb by itself or do there have to be other rings worn on the hand as well?

If you feel like looking like a russian mobster with two rings on every finger, do it.

basically. if you are trying to look western, or "trad", wear a wedding ring, maybe a signet or possibly a class ring.

if that isn't important to you, wear what ever you like. I don't wear rings, but I think that the look of wearing a thumb ring can be cool on young men. and a lot of indians wear multiple gem rings on different fingers, it is perfectly acceptable to them.

I agree. Maybe I'm too old school, but I think more than a wedding band is pushing it. I also think earrings and visible tattoos are pushing it too, so I'm probably more conservative than most.

Can you wear a thumb ring by itself? I am still under 25 years old, so I thought it looked neat.

What do you mean "can you". You can wear whatever you want. You're over-thinking this, people aren't sitting around chatting about why you have a thumb ring on.

I wear my grandmothers diamond in a men's setting on my right hand. It's a very classy setting, and the diamond ain't too shabby either- although I probably only wear it once or twice a week.

Yeah exactly, basically you follow western mainstream convention or it's free for all. I haven't worn jewellery in a while (it goes by phases) but I just put on what I like and that's it.

I never thought about the style implications, but i've worn a thin silver band on my pinky finger for almost a decade...I get both compliments and questions as to why i have it. I just like it.
