Swedish - Sorry you are hating Pentagon City. I absolutely love it over here. Less than a five minute walk to the PCity metro and I'm on the yellow or blue line into the city. No crime and I can have two cars no problem. I also work in McLean so its easy access to the GW Parkway. In my opinion, DC is overrated.

I agree with one of the posters about Logan Circle/P Street. It feels the most like Manhattan.

I think your choice of neighborhood will really depend on your profile. DC works for a lot of people because it is a city without a lot of the sh*t that comes along with most cities. So, if you grew up in suburban Chicago (and most posters should be real and admit that they're products of suburbs because their parents didn't want them around crime and in bad schools), then a neighborhood like Columbia Heights should be great because it has all of the amenities of a suburb without the dangers of the city. Many of you may argue that Columbia Heights is still dicey, but I would have to disagree. West Baltimore is dicey. Columbia Heights is gentrified. But I guess that all depends on your perspective. I am from Philadelphia, so I may have a higher tolerance for crime than someone from Orlando. Idk.

+1. Why don't you like it? I'd move to either there or Crystal City in a heartbeat.

Because it's in Virginia. The city rocks. The above poll is BS, you are missing some big neighborhoods. Capitol Hill, Dupont, Cleveland Park, Van Ness, U St., etc... How the hell does Shaw make the cut?

Hahahahaha....because they don't let blacks and minorities into good DC neighborhoods?

True. Try to find a place close to the non-functioning police cams and giant spot lights.

Good point, but IMO it's more convenient than the Maryland side.

This is true, but between VA and MD I'd go with VA.
