Suggestions on Masculine Cologne?

i've said it here before, but i'm a huge fan of tom ford tuscan leather, especially as a masculine cologne. it smells like what you seem to be describing, very old school swank and classy at the same time. a very evening cologne. and women seem to be drawn to it.

Creed is very good as well as Aqua di Parma. Any Neimans has a good supply.

If you are in NYC, Paul Stuart has a sandlewood that is very nice.

Search function is your friend; there are seriously 50 cologne recommendation threads going on now. On several of them are some really excellent discussions and suggestions of lots of stuff. I'd also search for the "top ten fragrances" thread or something like that, where we posted our all-time faves. That being said, Gucci Pour Homme (the Tom Ford one) is really uber-manly and affordable. The mentions of YSL RG PH are good ones, too. Nevertheless, "masculine" is a hard thing to quantify (as Thomas mentions below) because this meaning has changed over time. REALLY old-school "masculine" fragrances were all pretty florals, like rose. Then, in the 70's, it became studly dark spicey fare. Recently, it's become rather lukewarm "clean" stuff.

Old school masculine is a huge umbrella and includes Old Spice, Brut (not current production), Chanel Pour Monsieur, Guerlain Vetiver (the older the better), Knize Ten, Dunhill (1934 but nothing else), Azzaro PH, Bay Rum and Agua Lavanda.

In other words, you'll have your hands full narrowing down the genres, but if you're near a counter, try John Varvatos.

....hard to say. Dunhill for Men is probably a reformulated effort at the 1934. Probably doesn't suck.

you have to go to a counter and play around. Varvatos Vintage is good tho
