Baseball 2010 - Page 3

Yep, US Cellular is great. It's always a show there. My first game I ever went to there I saw back to back to back home runs.

Grew up in SE PA. The O's are kind of my AL team, though. They're difficult to love with Angelos in charge.

Honestly, at this point it's really a toss-up for the NL East, between the Mets and the Phillies.

Agreed. I think it's going to come down to injuries. I don't trust Moyer, Utley, Feliz, and Rollins to be healthy all year. And Jayson Werth has never been a starter for a full season.

On the steroids thing--the users aren't blameless, but it's hard to take the whining from fans of the "pure" game. People have always found quasi-legal ways to get an edge. It doesn't help that the guys who have been caught are mostly jerks.

Dude, you know players were using greenies back in the days of Mantle and Mays, right? PEDs in baseball aren't new.

I honestly don't know. The old stadium sold bleacher seats (IMO best seats in the house) for $10. Last I heard, the cheapest seats at the new Yankee stadium were going for ~$200, I think. I don't even want to know what a season pass would cost.

Anyone feel like stopping the Angels this year?

greenies = speed. "Greenies" are as much a part of mid-20th century baseball lore as steroids are a part of late 1990s/early 2000s lore.

You have been listening to too much talk radio sport shows.

Mays, Aaron, Mantle, all of them popped greenies their whole careers. This isn't sports radio, this is first hand accounts, admissions. Or did Jim Bouton write Ball Four under the influence of sports radio? Unlike steroids--speed actually improves on-field performance.

Or shit, maybe I listen to too much espn radio magyarorszag.

Ok I get it greenies > steroids. Do you think crystal meth will help increase my bat speed?

If nasty ass teeth correlate with hand-eye coordination (the way speed does) then yeah sure, why not. I'm sure Ichiro would be the modern-day DiMaggio if he frequented the trailer parks a bit more.

Does anyone else think the Cubs should fall off a bit from last year? I'm doubting Harden's durability, and Dempster pitched way over his head. They still have that sick lineup together, so "falling off" might mean they win 90 instead of 97, but still.

All players in all sports cheat. Who gives a F&%#!!!! Not me. The NFL is rampant with performance enhancing drug use. We see Olympic medals taken away all the time for drug use. I don't care if they use or not. I want to see homeruns hit, not singles.

Bump...

My Phillies are looking better than they were a few weeks ago--everyone seems reasonably healthy, although Raul Ibanez's spring performance has been lackluster, and I'm not ecstatic that Chan Ho Park may be in the rotation.

Aside, does anyone have experience with the cable MLB package? Like/dislike? I'm thinking of getting it but would like to have the Phils TV feed available as much as possible.
