Apolis Activism SS09 and FW09 - Page 4

I find it especially ironic that the tees all have messages of world peace while the trousers are chinos and the shirts have epaulets.

^^I agree with those guys. Seems like very few of the workwear/americana lines really make something special, neither in the terms of inspiration or shapes. They play it safe, some rolled pants, plaid shirts, military influences. If you look in a magazine like Free & Easy it becomes apperent theres so much interesting and quirky stuff to repro or be influenced by, not just the standard stuff. So far, EG really seems like one of the few brands taking chances.

Holy shit, and the slogan for a company that makes those chino trousers and shirts with epaulets is, "DEFEND TOMORROW?" Mind blown.

I always took it as more Carter-esque than Truman, especially given the humanitarian connection.

The sizing for a lot of their pieces on Context seems strange. According to the Context sizing charts, some small Apolis shirts are bigger than Gap mediums.

I tried one of their slubby tshirts in small and it was huge on me (and I'm usually a small/medium in most brands). I didn't really like the fit of the Madison shirt either, but that's the only experience I have with the brand. I love their fabrics, not so much their fits.

The Madison shirt is sized smaller than their other pieces.

I could see myself getting the ash chinos, if the cut is good.

Filson collab bag looks pretty cool.

Looked through the line at Project, it's very good. Better quality and fabrication than NDG, less Appalachian than EG and made by local guys and supported by independent boutiques with a passion for clothes. Independent boutiques and small brands really need everyone's support this season.

I also saw the new stuff in Vegas this past week and I have to say that they are even more amazing in person. The quality is unreal and the Apolis x Filson bag will definitely live up to the hype. Great job guys! (Also, Shea is probably one of the coolest guys I've ever met).

Raan is funnier. I'm going to see whether I can persuade him to post, and include a picture of himself wearing a True Religion Fedora.
