I, too, received shoes not sized properly. I have two pairs of Vass that I bought "off the rack" earlier this year from Tom in size 44 U last, and those shoes fit great. So I went the MTO route and ordered a pair of 44 U last Italian Oxford. The shoes I received from Tom are a quarter inch shorter sole length than my two previous Vass and an eighth of an inch narrower. Nothing on the shoe indicates a size, either, and Tom is not returning emails.

Think I'm probably SOL, here.

Do you guys know what Shipping Carrier Tom is using at the moment? I haven't received my shoes yet, and I have a tracking number, but no idea what shipment method he used.

He sent them via USPS to me.

Sorry to bring this thread back up but a small querry reguarding the size of my shoes. As some of you recall, I ordered my Vass as MTO and therefore it did not come with a size. The trees, however, is marked with the number "42-" Would it be safe to assume that the shoes are size 42, eventhough the trees are not entirely tight when fitted in the shoe?

You don't know what size you ordered? MTO is not bespoke, you need to order a size...

re your question, could be 42 or 42.5 - both use the same 42 trees

Is there a good way to order a pair of Vass?

Even when you order them in a size, there's no guarantee you'll get them in your size, even if ordering from Vass direct. I tried this myself earlier this year, about February, and I was shipped a pair that were a US 8. I ordered a US 7.

Just a curious question. Is anyone still waiting the get their shoes from Tom?

Vass does not size its shoes in US sizes - you need to know your EU size in the specific last you picked. If you let someone else decide what size you may be, don't be surprised if it does not fit.

^ +1. I just double-checked and all of my Vass are in European sizing.

Back in high school, I would mail a tracing of both of my feet to LL Bean when I ordered boots from them. I don't see why a tracing can't be faxed to Vass for an objective fitting.

Normally, Vass don't make tree in half size, but sometime they did. 42-, is 42.5.
I don't know why your shoe didn't have size marked, all my MTO from Vass have size on it. They are MTO, not MTM.
