Oh, and another thing - what the fuck was up with the marijuana field? I mean, if Jason kills anyone who goes near it then:

a) how did it get there in the first place
b) who maintains it?

Are they implying that Jason is a homicidal pot farmer?

I'd say the first 15-20 minutes of the film was a direct homage to the original 4 movies of the series. Especially the sleeping bag scene... which they failed on. No one can top the original sleeping bag scene from the original series - one of the best kill scenes EVER! The rest of it was a bad modern spin, especially the crap like the black and Asian kids that act as if they are Harold & Kumar. I thought the hillbilly kid was Jason Mewes but I just looked it up - it wasn't.

Spoiler!!!!!!!!!! Dont read this if you have not yet watched the movie.

Since when does Jason keep a hostage? He hacks all pretty women to death, but decides to keep one all of a sudden? WTF?

This omission is EPIC FAIL. I suppose Righetti is B list now, and doesn't have to do those scenes. She is on The Mentalist and looks completely different than she appeared on North Shore.

Yeah, I guess it is slightly different from the original series in that Jason was pretty much a one-dimensional killing machine in the original flicks. He is more of a Renaissance man in this one - he builds his own lair, fixes it with booby traps, wires it with a high-powered lighting system, takes hostages, disposes of bodies, and he's an expert in archery, axe-throwing, and pot-growing.

Archery, axe throwing and body disposal were all well covered in the original series. I didn't want to mention the hostage thing because it's a spoiler but yeah - I have a big problem with that too.

I wonder if that is Jason's pot? Does he smoke?

I agree. What is up with that high powered lighting system? Is Jason supposed to be a human or a zombie or what? If he is some kind of zombie or half-dead ghost creature, then why does he have the lair? If you look closely in the movie, maybe he even has indoor plumbing or wall-to-wall carpet in there.

The movie contradicts itself... opening scene was a revisit to the original with Jason's mom saying "you let my boy die, you let my boy drown, etc..." AAAND the very first guy to die in the movie actually says "Jason drowned but when they killed him mom, he came back" I'd assume that pretty much labels him a zombie but they treat him like a Texas-Chainsaw or Hills-Have-Eyes style living-killer throughout the rest of the movie, all the way to the ending which had me yelling out loud "fucking finish the job!!!" to no avail.

SPOILER!!!!!! Do not look down!!!

So was he dead at the end? and the lake somehow brings him back to life? The movie was not consistent at all.

the endings always frustrate me...

so all those people are killed and rather than bring in a swarm of police they just dump his body in the lake? dont you need his body as evidence for the mayhem that just occurred? were they just going to go home like nothing happened?

....but it's silly to inject too much logic into this film

He was dead at the beginning I think this was sort of a "knock him out for a while" ending that left room for the sequels.

I finally had a chance to see this. I was a huge fan of these movies growing up, this was sub-par.

I guess he is a contractor that can build underground tunnels now? He's also able to wire electricity, from an unknown power source, to light towers outside. The pot was also pretty funny, it made absolutely no sense what-so-ever. The hostage was stupid. The tits were good. The hostage being in there also took away about 35 minutes of the plot because they had that stupid lead up just to introduce the hostage.
