Friday the 13th remake - did you see it? (SPOILER WARNING!!)

I just finished watching it and without giving too much away... meh... at least it they didn't take this one as seriously as some other recent horror remakes. It's sort of a "vanilla" style slasher flick compared to the current standard and they didnt' do much to sell it as anything else. Anyone else see it?

That movie was "meh" at best. I went to see that movie on Sunday and when the movie finished, there were 3 ideas in my head... they are as follows (keep in mind, I am a fan of the Friday the 13th Franchise).

1. That movie was kind of funny and had some hot womenz (who are topless)

2. That movie was not scary at all

3. This movie did not do the Friday the 13th legacy/franchise any justice (as compared to the revamped Halloween film which was superb)

Overall... as long as you keep your expectations low, this movie is worth seeing.

Hollywood should just stop making new Jason films.

I agree. I was expecting it to be either a sly parody of the series (a la Scream) or an over-the-top gorefest and it was just a boring paint-by-numbers slasher flick. Very disappointing.

I will see it. I like boring paint-by-numbers slasher flicks very much.

I loved these movies when I was growing up. Seriously, Jason Takes Manhattan, that's fucking bad ass. It's too bad they couldn't make a decent remake. I will be seeing it Thursday so hopefully it's not a huge disaster.

Not likely - without giving too much away, they've made it pretty apparent there will be sequels.

Also, one of my main problems with this movie (and also with the Dawn Of The Dead remake) is that the film makers seem to be convinced a movie isn't scary these days without moving at hyperspeed. Zombies can't run, mmmm'kay? Zombies don't get "angry" either.

Jason is nothing but a robot-like zombie right? He's supposed to be emotionless, he's supposed to be relentless in his endless, steady, slow-moving pursuit of the victim. These were characteristics that made Jason stand out from his peers (Michael Myers excluded). He's not supposed to have "down time" to relax, he's not supposed to have a lair... and there is more I'd say but I don't want to give too much of the movie away.

Jason Takes Manhattan and Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare were both the most over-the-top of the series (because Jason X is not considered part of the F13th series) and both were great! I remember seeing Freddy's Dead in 3D in the theater!

Oh yea, if you watch Jason Takes Manhattan, it's amazing how far T. Square has come from the wasteland it has been in the past. The best is when he punches the boxers head off when they're fighting on the roof. I also loved the guy who mopped the deck on the ship, "this voyage is doomed". Jason X was horrible. I only saw it once but really couldn't believe they made this movie in a space setting.

we went on Friday and I loved it. sure, the movie is bad, they all are, but i generally loathe going to the movies and this time I had a riot. it helped that we went to one of those theater that has the comfy chairs and food and pitchers of beer.

this was fun lots of titties and lots of gore, a winning combo the scene in the cabin was almost soft core porn, thumbs up of course Amanda Righetti didnt get topless, and her titties I'd want to see the most at least Jason seemed "smarter" in this movie, if you can call it that. Using a bow/arrow was something he'd never do in the past. and he ran instead of walking at a snails pace but always being ahead of you cant believe it made 42 mill!

He used a crossbow of some sort in one of the older movies, the scene was near the lake, hit a dude in the eye if I remember correctly. He also used a crossbow to gouge someone at close range.

^^ you're right, forgot about that

I'm glad that they stuck with the timeless formula of "people fucking = people dying"

Friday the 13th part 3 (the 3D movie) had an opening scene where Jason shoots a naked swimmer with an arrow, right in the eye.
