Or, are prices going to rise since there'll still be people who are willing to pay 35% off of retail rather than 65%? Or are we going to have a 30-45 second window to buy things before they sell out? And finally, have a Thom Browne sale!! Or another Black Fleece.

Sorry, none in your size at the moment. I have a suit in 46R and a sportcoat in 40R.

Gilt Groupe provides access, by invitation only, to Men's, Women's and Children's coveted fashion and luxury brands at prices up to 70% off retail. Each sale lasts 36 hours and features hand selected styles from a single designer.

Their emphasis is on their prices, not on something else. So it is fair to criticise them on their prices, something that they are very confident about. And yes I can find Polo suit for $200 and RLPL for about $350-$400 on sale. And in some places the retail price of RLBL suits aren't more than $700. Maybe it would be better if Gilt wasn't mentioning up to 70% and instead just say slightly lower prices.

Where do RLBL suits RETAIL for <$700?

So it's fair to criticize them on their prices because you can get it somewhere else cheaper than them? Give me a fucking break. So you happen to be someone who just likes to bitch about things - noted.

Also, where did you see these suits retail for 700 dollars or less?

I agree that the stuff is comparably expensive to what you can find at a good clearance sale or a closeout store. For much of the stuff they sell on the site, I've seen much lower prices at places like Century 21, but for most of the country they just don't have access to stores like that. And so the reason they can charge the higher prices. For example, I currently go to school out in St. Louis, but am a native of NYC - it kills me that there are almost no high end stores in the area, and the one or two boutiques never have anything on sale because there is no competition, and thus, no need to lower their prices.

They sold a $30,000 Alexander McQueen for just over $3,000. I've also seen $15,000 Valentino gowns for like $2,000.

That's not the only reason they can charge higher prices - Gilt's business model is just different than a Century 21. They get different stock, they may not have the same buying power to get items as cheap as C21, and Gilt has to take pictures of merchandise, have models from handsome-boy modeling school and establish an entire web presence that C21 or Filene's doesn't. Excuse them for trying to make a buck.

How can people complain about the prices and then at same time complain about how everything sold out in two seconds. I live in NY and would not pay this much for a RLBL suit since they sell on this board and in sales for around 500 dollars but the price was right for some people I guess.
