I love l'Atelier - dig the concept and the food is always great - especially if it involves an egg - Robuchon does pretty cool things with those. The NYC one is very good but the concept is not there any more.

Yeah, we had to have a sure time because of the nanny. The food is good there, and it's relaxing to take a break and eat at a counter.

I will say that the night this photograph was taken, the restaurant's clientele seemed to have escaped from a circus. It was weird but in an interesting way.

Here I am about to enjoy Per Se food, but at the hushed, suffocating, food-temple home planet of the French Laundry:

Yes, I am wearing a suit...DeBoise bespoke...I'm not sure if NYC is more casual than Yountville.

Your pocket square looks much better and more normal in that pic.

Does FL or PS recommend wine parings with each course? I suck at picking wine. Would you pick one bottle or purchase by the glass with each course?

yeah, the per se wine pairings are quite well done. make sure to start your meal with one of their gin and tonics. they make their own tonic and it is pretty incredible.

Thanks for the tip. I'll give it a try.

No, in my reactionary iGentry, I only wear the square fold these days (puff for silk/wool). But back in the day, I rocked that fold.

I was in Yountville in December. It has become a pastoral Upper East Side. When I become dictator of California, a lot of people are going to be forcibly relocated.

It's startling how it's changed in such a short time.

I might have to stay at the dreaded Auberge next time to escape the hordes.
