Yeah, it's weird when people do this without any repercussions. I was a special education teacher for a couple of years. I had an autistic child who would bite the tapered light bulbs off of the fake Christmas candles you'd put in the window. They were being used for a play and weren't plugged in. She did 3-4 over a two-day period.

We have a family friend who almost ate a raw habanero once. He chopped it and threw it on a pizza. The pizza only baked for 7 or 8 minutes, so it was still mostly raw. It wasn't sauteed or roasted or anything prior. It was hilarious to see. He did have to go to the hospital though, which wasn't as funny.

I actually ate a sheet of paper for money once. Probably not a whole sheet, but I do recall eating some paper.

I forget the name of it, but hot sauce is rated by "scoville units". Basically...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scoville_scale The stuff I have is rated at 4,000,000 units. A habanero is a joke compared to this stuff. Dave's Insanity is like 80,000 scoville units, child's play.

Years ago the Air Force paid me to collect and eat some rather odd food items, during survival training. Anyone up for some nice, fresh grubs(!)?

Ok... it makes me almost puke to write this...

but once at a major restaurant in Paris, we paid this guy from Calais, Serge (he'd also been in the French Foreign Legion), 50 euro to eat a fist sized pile of shrimp shit... the part of the shrimp you remove before cooking.

I was so sick after watching that that I actually had to get really drunk to complete service. Chef, who was in Las Vegas at the time, heard about it and actually called me to ask if it seriously happened. He laughed his ass off and told me to tell Serge that he'll match the 50 Euros.

It's definitely possible. I'm convinced that a lot of people puke it up on purpose to look funny or something.

The worst I remember was when someone brought a 2 million scoville sauce to a bbq, don't remember the brand, but people took turns dipping chips into it and dying after. People were running around screaming in pain. I saw someone holding a 2 liter bottle of soda and rinse his mouth with it constantly. We finished a 5 gallon tub of ice cream that day.

That reminds me. When I was 10, we moved to Japan w/ the US Army. On the bus ride from the airport to the Army post, we stopped at a rest area and got hot dogs. I liked ketchup and mustard on my hot dogs, so that's what I put on mine. I didn't know about the super hot mustard that the Japanese liked to eat. I remember being hungry and taking a big bite..

I swear the heat came out of my nose! I don't think I touched mustard for the rest of the time we lived there!
