I believe it has even been reviewed in the NYT.

Do you mean Talula's Table? http://www.talulastable.com/

Should I try the tasting menu or order a la carte? I've heard good things about the gnocchi and goat. I am leaning towards the tasting menu. . .

It's the Birchrunville Store Cafe, and worth every effort that it takes to secure a reservation. BYOB.

The goat is phenomenal. Order the tasting, and just ask them for anything else you want. They are very accommodating. Also, the sommelier is excellent and will not just steer you to the ultra-expensive bottles.

I'd like to throw my hat into the ring for The Prime Rib. If you get there on a Sunday, it's BYOB and 3 courses for ~$30. This includes a cut of prime rib that's probably 6-8 inches in diameter and absolutely delicious. The wait staff is courteous and efficient and the restaurant is classy. They had a dress code, but I think they recently relaxed it due to the "recession." Still, you always look good there in a jacket. So long as you go on a Sunday for the $30 menu, it's a deal. Otherwise, it runs about the same as other steak places ($30 steak, plus sides, plus dessert).

Yes... That's the one! http://www.birchrunvillestorecafe.com/ Quite good and not exorbitantly priced. Although I still LOVED the bar underneath Le Bec Fin. Every time I went Chef Perrier was eating at the bar.

Oh and skip dessert at whatever restaurant and stop by Capogiro for some great gelato.

http://www.usatoday.com/travel/desti...taurants_N.htm The description of Le Bec Fin in this USA today list of French Restaurants is making me want to go back ASAP. I am a little surprised Everest beat out Les Nomades for Chicago though :/

If someone would have told me back in the day that there would be an upscale Garces resturant on that corner, I would have laughed, but Distrito seems to be thriving and drawing people from Center City even. I'm betting they got an absolute sweetheart deal on that lease.

The Foodery near 10th and Pine is also a good choice to get beer, as they have a very wide selection of foreign and domestic beers. You can also mix and match to get a six pack (but it will cost ya).

So I think the food at Vetri is on par with the French Laundry particularly when price is considered. My favs were the pastrami foie gras, foccacia bread and veal.
