How much can you eat?

We're not talking about when you were younger in high school eating two large Dominos pizza in one sitting.

At present age, how much can you physically eat in one setting? I'm asking 'cause I pigged out big time today. We had catered food and here's what I had:

Lunch: (around noon today)

6 pieces of salisbury steak (maybe 1/3 pound at least each)
2 full plates of green beans in butter sauce (plates about 10" diameter and I piled the beans high)
1/2 plate of garlic mash potatoes
2 cans of Diet Pepsi
1 cup of strawberry mousse (about an 8oz cup)

Dinner just now (about 7:30pm)

Another 6 pieces of same salisbury steak
1 full plate of the green beans
1 20 oz Coke Zero.

I'm kinda bummed 'cause I'm trying not to gain weight.

I have drastically reduced my eating capability over the last 5 years or so. I used to destroy the indian buffet, not any more.

here's about the most I can eat now:

2 full naans
3 scoops of chicken tikka masala
2-3 scoops rice
1 tandoori chicken piece
1 scoop aloo gobi
1 scoop paneer spinach
1 samosa or similar fried dough
2 glasses of coke or 2 beers
a dollop of mango ice cream

Lee - you had the same food catered for dinner? Or did you help yourself to what was left and doggy-bagged it home?

I'm bad at buffets, but fortunately don't go to many these days. Even if the food is crap, which it usually is, I'll have about 3 plates of savory food, followed by ice cream. Otherwise, I'm definitely eating less these days. My fitness and heart can't take the onslaught.

when it comes to ice cream, im the king. you may think i am morbidly obese if you were blind and just heard me eat it and how long i continue eating it.

So far my record is somewhere in the neighborhood of six or seven pounds in less than 1/2 an hour.

It's too ghastly to say.

Not much really. I'm fat, but I can't/don't eat very much.

Not super fat. I'm at 5'11" 225, down from 280 about 15-18 months ago. That's not obese by any means, but it still puts me squarely in the fat category.
Re: chefs being plump, I'm not sure I agree. Maybe in the past, but not today. I think people want to see someone who is responsible with their own life to be handling their food. Fat people are a job hazard in cramped kitchens. Obesity shows a lack of self discipline, which is not something people want when they hand their health and enjoyment to a chef on a night at their restaurant. I need to get my own health and things worked out before I can be expected to be responsible for somebody else's.

The most food I've put down recently had to have been at a recent work drinking event. I had 18 or so large hot wings, at least a regular paper plate full of veggies and chips with dips, 2 LARGE slices of those huge 6 foot long sandwiches, 2 cupcakes and about 6 chocolate chip cookies. All of this along with 3 glasses of Lagavulin single malt.

Back in college I used to pack away about 1k calories for breakfast, 5k calories for lunch, and 4k for dinner along with at least 4 glasses of water at each meal. It was epic.

Holy shit, to me that is destroying the buffet. 2 slices of naan 1 samosa (or 3 pakoras) 2 spoons rice 2 spoons Saag Paneer 2 Spoons other veggies Small bowl of rice pudding water I eat like a woman, but I don't give a fuck, I'm healthy. Although, to add to this discussion, I can remember revisiting the buffet at least once, and also eating two kinds of dessert, as well as drinking coke in the past. Now I can't even drink soda. My family gets pastries every saturday, I used to eat a huge heavy cream filled donut and a chocolate one. Now I just eat one of those little panera egg sandwhiches. I'm 17, I've never had a growth spurt (though I'm over 5'11"), I guess I've just changed.

Well, I used to be able to eat at least 30% more. Basically eat 3 full plates, dessert, and drinks. I'm down to about 2 now. Getting old
