I love them with that garlicky-butter sauce dipped in a French baguette. Thanks to GetSmart and his soon to be Paris adventure, made me think of snails~~!!

Have you been to L'escargot Montorgueil? It's snail heaven.

Never really been a fan of them, but I wouldn't refuse one or two if offered some. There are lots of other more interesting things to eat.

I used to eat these as a kid when we went to fancy restaurants. people would come up to us and be amazed that some 5 year old boy was eating snails, lol.

My pallete is less refined now... dont know if Id eat it today

I like it ,the snails.

Just tried them recently; the texture is firmer than I expected, and the flavor was more garlicky than anything.

Anyone here had snail caviar?

Every time I've had them they've been drowned in so much garlic butter I'm not sure if I even know what they taste like. ~H

As far as I can tell, that's the (delicious) point. I can't imagine they're that tasty on their own.

+1.

Also, try a blue cheese sauce.

I was on a date once a few years ago and a girl convinced me to try them. I was averse to eating snails, but she said they tasted like garlicky mushrooms. That's accurate, but they are a little more chewy. I think they're overrated, but they weren't bad.

RJ, did you have it in Paree? I think I saw a show about snail eggs where they said it was crazy expensive b/c they were more or less all hand harvested.

I've had great escargot and I've had terrible. They're a lot like mussels, IMO. Cooked well, they're really fantastic, but they're easy to overcook, and the second they get overcooked, they're rubbery and terrible.

I love them, but then again my family has to many friends in France.
I order them quite frequently with gorgonzola sauce as an appetizer at a local Italien restaurant.

That place is incredible. It's often a destination when I'm in Paris.
