1. Suit - $300 (My job is business casual, so I don't have much need for them)
2. Shirt - $125 (Retail Ike Behar I couldn't pass up)
3. Pants - $100 (Ralph Lauren GI chinos, but my Epaulet jeans top that at $145)
4. Shoes/Boots - $300 (Allen Edmonds Augusta medallion toe in walnut, soon to be surpassed by the Wolverine 1000 mile boot at $325)
5. Socks - $10 (Wherever you guys get your gorgeous multicolored striped, argyle and solid color socks, I would like to know, I need some.)
6. Coat - $150 (Sterlingwear peacoat)
7. Tie - $30 (rarely wear ties)
8. Square - $0 (don't own any)
9. Odd Jacket - $0 (don't own any)
10. Watch - $0 (My only one, A very nice Movado Museum, was a graduation gift)
11. Cufflinks - $0 (don't own any)
12. Belt - $50 (raw horsehide made by SF member Unlucky which has developed an amazing patina)
14. T-shirt - $100 (If polos count, then it's a trench colored, check pattern placket one from Burberry)

I have managed to build a fairly solid collection being 21 and a recent college grad. I don't have a lot of pieces, but every one that I own is in my rotation. I have to be very selective when I shop and I don't have the money to impulse buy...yet.

But...my probationary period at my first job is over in two weeks, at which point my raise will convince the fashion-obsessed part of my brain to do very, very naughty things. I can hardly wait

For me , there is no substitute for Paul Smith (available at Sak's, Blue Bee, Paul Smith Online). You can also get nice ones from Duchamp, Duncan Quinn, and Pantharella.

suit: a whole lot
odd coat: didn't think it possible
overcoat: a fair amount
waistcoat: more than was necessary
vestments: Don't ask. Don't tell if you find out.
trousers: a stunning amount given it was a pair of pants

formal shirt: I didn't know shirts cost that much ... except at AK's.
dress shirt: Yes, it's true ... sad ... but true.

sweater: Holy Moly!
knit shirt (wool): plenty
knit shirt (cotton): a bit less than plenty

T-shirt: whew!

hat: OMG!
tie: The usual ... my usual, of course.
pocket square: could have spent more
scarf: Damn!
braces: less than I would have thought
belt: not that bad
suspenders: a reasonable amount
pair of socks: For socks?

pair of shoes/boots: Merde!

watch: one heckovan astronomical amount
pair of cufflinks: Good God!

bag; briefcase: wow! Even I'm impressed.
bag; luggage: one big ol bunch o'cash

undershirt: oh, la, la!
underpants: goodness, gracious great balls of fire!
pajamas: oo wee!

sun glasses: a cool amount, Baby, cool

fragrance: enough

Damn, those Paul Smith's are great! Do you know of any less expensive brands that make similar patterns? I'm sure the quality of the Paul Smith's is amazing, but sock quality isnt nearly as much as a concern for me as the pattern/color is.

I think what you're paying for is the design..... They're nice socks, but hardly the best quality I've ever owned. You might find some nice stuff at a lower price at H&M / Zara kind of stores, or maybe GAP ?

Funny thread, as I'm debating dropping an insane amount on a leather jacket (5-6K depending on which), so I was searching to see if that is that outlandish? (Financially, I can afford it without a problem, but "should" is another question, haha.)

I'm surprised at how little people spend on suits... *hints at botched numbers*

As bad as it may sound, i love the club room luxury blend from macy's. I get them on sale, and they last forever. Most of my socks are them or gold toe
