One of the nights for dinner I am taking us out somewhere nice, and while I have some ideas in mind by reading Internet recommendations of Paris dining, I was wondering if others here had their own recommendations.
Preferably something that is seafood intensive menu, BUT also has beef options (for me as I hate seafood)
Price not really an issue but nothing astronomical
btw, any personal opinions of Le Boeuf Sur La Toit off the Champs D'Elyses (sic)

Why is it not obvious? Because like the rest on the list it has 3 Michelin stars and the highest Zagat rating in Paris (all those are on Top Foods list w/ 28)? Or because you've never been there?

I didn't read the OP as saying: please copy and paste the list of 3 star restaurants in Paris where we can pay as much as humanly possible for an exceptional meal. Maybe I should re-read the OP.

It was l'AOC. The cooking is unpretentious and relies mainly on extremely good ingredients cooked simply (lots of roasted or grilled meats, etc.). You should love meat and be aware that the portions are big.

There's a difference between tried french classics and something on the cutting edge like Gagnaire. He's the only French chef whose name is spoken in the same breath as Blumenthal and Adria, and it's for a reason.
Also keep in mind that for many people Zagat is a total joke, and there can be a gulf as wide as the marianas trench between any two given 3 Star establishments.

I am always puzzled when people say "be careful, the portions are big".
Are they afraid the dish will eat them? Are they afraid that they can't control themselves? I never got that. Just don't eat everything if it's too big. How does that affect your decision to go to a restaurant?

Point taken... GDL made my point a little better. It was not that Le V is the greatest restaurant ever, just that you had given a pretty obvious list of restaurants that anyone who has heard of food and Paris should know without asking.

I've never liked Gagnaire. I didn't like his food when he was in the provinces, and I don't like it in Paris. I'm all for interesting food, and experimenting, I just think he gets it wrong.
