Well, just in general ties are such a subjective and personal thing, quality almost takes a back seat to aesthetics. In my experience, there's not really that much of a continuum in the quality of ties, you're either getting a cheap chinese one with the plastic-like interlining, or a good italian one with the wool interlining. Beyond that, everything else like the look, the thickness of the wool, the width, etc. are personal preferences.

I don't think it's illegal for them to be selling it. Probably the supplier is breaking their contract with LV by selling over-runs to a 3rd party, but it's not counterfeit or stolen for LV, so they can't do anything to Century 21 over it. I'm not that surprised either, are we really expected to believe they just destroy all their unsold merchandise? As an aside, does anyone know who makes LV's ties for them? Is it another company in the LVMH group?

From what I saw in store, 90% of their styles incorporate the logo in some way or another. Some of them were way too over the top and just silly branding attempts. I ended up going with the celeste because it's a nice balance. It has prominent polka dots which draw the attention, but a very subtle, almost invisible tone on tone monogram pattern as well. It's only possible to see it in the right light at just the right angle.

As for LV being sold on sale and/or at this Century 21 place, I don't believe it. I've never seen an LV sale and my understanding is that they pride themselves on not having sales to maintain exclusivity. And like I said above, they don't sell products outside their own stores or boutiques anyway.

Right. These shop in shops have their own employees who can only sell LV merchandise and are employed by LV. It's a nice little relationship because LV gets more traffic and if I'm not mistaken some don't even pay rent to the dept. store but I'm not sure. And the dept. store gets to advertise LV in the ad campaigns and bask in LV's exclusivity.
