Damn.... I love that pattern. Personally, I'd burn the coat, but keep the trousers. Have a tailor take out the pleats and recut them slimmer.
I wanted to say burn it, then thought for a second, there is one special day that comes to mind, Oct. 31, and a red nose with dark lipstick and big shoes....maybe a flower that squirts water.....think about it.
This one is right at the limit. If paired with a patterned shirt and a busy tie, one will come out like doing a part in a mob movie. However, with the right shirt and tie to tone the pattern down I would find a number of uses for it. Is it not a bit short though? 30 inches for a 42 sounds short to me. It's my preferred length and I use a 38, or sometimes 36. Anyway, $36 - what a steal. B
This person doesn't know anything about suits, and I doubt he knows anything about measurements. The Isaia 50 is almost always a perfect fit for me. I'm guessing it's actually about 30.5 - 31 from the bottom of the collar. It certainly isn't a size 42, but more like a 40. I'm curious to see how lively the pattern is in person. I figured I couldn't go wrong for $50 total dollars.
Carlo Barbera, one of the most highly regarded mills, actually offers a very similar pattern in lambswool (Distributed by Lesser/UK) although with slightly more earthtones. I happen to own a sport coat in that CB cloth. A distributor called Drapers, out of Italy, also offers a Prince of Wales-type cloth very similar to your jacket. I like it, for what it's worth. Grayson
