Chris Brown assaults Rihanna, looking at 9 years

I'm really disappointed by my local (rap) radio station. Today they had people call in and give their opinions on what happened. Almost every single person who called basically said that while they don't condone hitting women, Rihanna deserved it since she gave him the herps. (Which in itself is insanely hypocritical) I understand their point that herpes sucks really bad, but that really warrants beating up a woman? WTF is wrong with people???? I also can't believe the DJ was laughing about some really messed up things people were saying.

Needless to say I will not be tuning back to this station in the future.

I think most everyday people would react in a similar fashion. Where I'm currently living in Europe, the story got the same response. Many people believe passing an incurable STD deserves a beat down, apparently.

Dude, more than half the adult population has herpes. There would be a lot of beat-downs coming. And HPV infection rates (another incurable STD) are even higher.

FYI in Europe, many of the rates are even higher.

(Waiting for someone to start accusing me of having one or more of these, as that is the typical level of discussion.)

That's the surprising part, had it been DMX, it would almost have been expected. However Chris Brown was one of the last I'd suspect to succumb to domestic violence. The guy always came off as a MTV-Nickolodeon type of guy, then again, you never know what one is capable of.

This story gets stranger as the day goes on, but hitting a woman is definately a punk move.
